I’m sure you’re aware that oatmeal is the cheapest breakfast ever so this recipe is a no-brainer. It takes something ho-hum and with just a little technique gives it a craveability. I buy steel-cut oats in bulk at Whole Foods for a lot less than you get in those tiny little canisters. I last paid around 60 cents a pound- really worth it. I make this sometimes for a cheap dinner as well. Steel cut oats are so good for you and this recipe will make you love them.
I cup steel cut oats
2 Tbls. butter
1 cup whole milk
Melt butter on medium low in small saucepan. Add oats and stir until toasted. Add the milk and simmer until done. Serve with fruit, brown sugar and more milk.
